My Story
Passions, Music, very special Meetings and lucky coincidences!
Valentina Mey was born in Biella. At the age of 11 she makes her debut in the world of music, together with her father, a pianist.
She attends percussion classes at SM School (Studi Musicali Biella) and in the meantime she sings cover-songs in various clubs, bars and at several social events.
1993 she starts studying jazz-singing with the teacher Paola Mey, who she draws inspiration for her art-name from. Valentina makes a careful study of the typical american singin techniques with her teacher Michele Fischietti from Milan.
In the meantime she attends for 4 years the "Teatro Stabile Company" in Biella where she studies acting techniques and diction. 1998 she takes part in "Castrocaro Music Festival".
2000
Song and Dance
In 2000 she approaches dance and specifically modern jazz.
2001
The American Experience
In 2001 she moved to Los Angeles for two years where, besides studying the "Speech-level-singing technique" with the great teacher Seth Riggs, she has the opportunity to meet well-known personalities of show business such as Ray Charles, Beppe Cantarelli and attend seminars with teachers Chip Hand, Jay Clayton and Jan Brown.
2003
Discography Experience
she comes back to Italy and after a while she signs a Recording Contract with the russian major JOKER MEDIA ltd, which publishes her first album in the Balkans. This allows Valentina to perform in a duo with the jazz singer Sergey Manouikan in a 30-date tour.
Together with her band she takes part in various musical and social events in Italy: Forte dei Marmi, Naples, Rome, Como, Lignano Sabbiadoro, La Spezia...). She offers a variety of pop, funky, soul and jazz cover-songs when she performs at some exclusive and luxury clubs such as Twiga, Jimmy'z and Billionaire.
2006
With JAMES BROWN ...
Valentina Mey is the official italian artist who takes part in the tour of James Brown, 2006.
June 2006 her first single and video are published in Italy. In the videoclip Valentina performs with the italian actor Fabio Fulco.
2007
a Single record and a super friendship with JOSE' ALTAFINI, Great things are born as a joke
she publishes another single, which contains a duet with Josè Altafini: "Because of You (Esse è Amor)"...dedicated to the brazilian bossanova music, which they both love.
June 2007 Valentina publishes the album "No More Blues", a crossover of musical genres which mixes her great passion for blues, jazz and acid jazz with funky rhythms and pop music.
Valentina Mey is such an eclectic artist: she records in studio but she also performs in various occasions of entertainment, especially luxury events: "Eventi in Villa", yacht parties, high society parties (see ENTERTAINMENT Section) in Italy and abroad.
Since Novermber 2007 Valentina keeps on performing at social events but she also starts her teaching carrer. Thanks to a collaboration between Valentina and Beppe Cantarelli, courses and classes are available all over Italy and ONLINE, too. This is very useful in order to follow the students when practicing VOCAL FITNESS, performing and during concerts.
2009
the writing of a vocal technique book
Valentina is chosen to participate in the realization of a Cd enclosed in the brand new book: "CROSSOVER TECHNIQUE", sold all over the wolrd, published by Curci and translated into 5 different languages.
2011
Still vocal technique .. for passion!
she takes part in the 3rd international convention "THE ARTISTIC VOICE" (following it until 2011), organized by DR. FRANCO FUSSI.
2011 Valentina takes part in a seminar about the singing method "Estill Voice Craft Evst".
Furthermore, in 2011 she follows the american theacher Brett Manning in his carreer.
Today ...
Nowadays Valentina Mey offers a wide variety of musical collaborations selecting her partners for any occasion, in order to offer always the right and customized entertainment and create a pleasant atmosphere. She offers her performances in italy and abroad to customers who are particulary interested in the elegance and unique style of MADE IN ITALY events: every performance is one and only, always special and refined!
